Chalice rock
Roots dub meets synth futurism - all analogue, all live, no AI.
Chalice Rock is a live dub project performed by UK producer Dwala and Trinidad-based musician D Rebell. Their debut record is a 10-track real-time dub voyage built entirely around live bass, phased clavs, hypnotic melodica leads, analogue delays, and spectral synthesis, performed and manipulated in a single take. No samples. No AI. Everything captured is human, live, and in the room.
Conceptually, the record imagines a spaceship crewed by the pair, transmitting dub frequencies across the galaxy — a sound that draws from the exploratory spirit of Sun Ra, The Orb, and Moebius, while staying rooted in Caribbean sound and executed with a cinematic, analogue approach. It's roots dub pulled into deep space, without losing the low end.
Dwala brings 25 years of production & sound design history spanning BBC, Boiler Room, Sony, and Nintendo, and served as producer on Kes's Man With No Door (150M+ streams). D Rebell brings six years as bassist with foundation reggae band Buzzrock, alongside stage credits with Queen Omega, and Marlon Asher; he also runs his own production house, D Rebell Productions.
Together, Chalice Rock is a genuine first for both of them — an Anglo-Caribbean collaboration built on UK sonic execution and authentic Trinidadian roots.
Released as the 12th record from Form & Order, Chalice Rock extends the label's genre-bending catalogue while holding to its founding compass: sound over style, substance over scene.
